TAKE A TRIP, MAKE A MEMORY . . .Simplistically, we can scenically transport you quickly and safely from any ‘point A’ to any ‘point B’ at any time and weather of your choosing...
• On a picturesque boat tour along the shores of our harbors, many small islands, and the rugged tip of Schoodic Peninsula
• On a ‘photographic adventure’ for you to capture memories of seals, porpoise, eagles, osprey, the occasional Minke Whale, and the myriads of other wildlife that abound... The design and safety of the boat allows accommodation of virtually any location and sun-angle of your choosing... (Over the many years we’ve been able to provide outstanding service to shoots by the BBC, NPBS, Maine Public Broadcasting, several Hollywood Studios, Travel & Leisure and Esquire Magazines, and innumerable professional photographers from around the world.
• On a slow cruise along the shores with fishing lines trolling for the mackerel that are plentiful... Or, with cameras rolling or kites trailing & soaring behind...
• On a run out to Petit Manan Island and Lighthouse, Main Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge, and the breeding grounds of the colorful Atlantic Puffin that reside there in numbers during the summer.
• Children have been a major part of Wes’ life during his 28 years as a Counselor and School Psychologist. Should the youngster(s) desire, they are more than welcome to take the wheel and controls once we’re out in open water with me standing directly behind them and providing guidance and instruction in safe operation and navigation rules. In recent years I’ve been truly amazed at how quickly they can learn the principles and use of Radar, Sonar, and GPS...! (Their familiarity with gaming and other electronic devices makes it a natural...)
• With a lifetime spent in sail, boating safety education, and navigation and seamanship instruction at various colleges & yacht clubs, one of my distinct pleasures is letting guests desiring experience and/or instruction in boating and navigation enjoy as much “hands on” experience as they desire. —General comments on seamanship, as I stand behind you when you’re at the helm, and your ability to ‘learn’—hands on—how to use the radar, GPS, and sonar are a plus...
• Picnic cruises are a fun way to eat lunch on the boat or on the shore... The shallow draft of the C-Dory allows us to get quite close to shores and beaches. For the staunch of heart, it is quite easy for me to maneuver the stern platform and steps into about 12” of water. Shorts, bathing suit, or knee boots make the step from the open stern boarding platform quite easy... The bow can be literally ‘touched’ on a beach and smaller children can be easily ‘handed down’ to a person on the shore. In any event, we can always tow a very safe 13 ft. skiff astern and ‘land’ people in the conventional fashion.
• Which reminds me... The open stern and boarding platform make it quite easy for an inveterate ‘swimmer’ to swim and/or dive from the boat and re-board. Locally, our ocean water temperature in the summer runs from 57 to 60º and a brief splash is quite invigorating! (In my 70 years, there’s never been a summer that I haven’t been for a ‘swim’ in the ocean!) —There is a fresh water wash-down system in the cockpit so that swimmers can rinse the salt off after swimming...
